This is my first time leaving a review, and hopefully will help someone else in the same situation. My 87 year old father has had Otterstedt as his only insurance agent ever, he has had his auto insurance with them since 1946 and his homeowners insurance since buying his present house in 1964. After a recent injury and weeks of rehab, I was going through his bills and was shocked to find he was paying over 3700. yr for homeowners ins.[with replacement cost 3 times higher than it should have been]. His auto ins. also seemed high at over 2600. yr. After inquiring with State Farm he was quoted 595. yr. for homeowners ins. [with accurate replacement cost] and 1100. yr. for auto- same coverage and limits. Needless to say we switched his coverage. 4600. difference. My father has been overpaying for decades. When I inquired by phone and spoke to Christy she said she just happened to be working on it-lol and got very defensive. Then told me it was my fathers fault. If his policies were reviewed even every 10 yrs. and adjusted the replacement cost would be much closer to reality. Clearly the employees at Otterstedt have not been doing their jobs. But my father a loyal customer for 70 yrs. trusted and never questioned them. He is loyal to a fault. Please if you have elderly parents review their policies and get competing quotes, the savings could be substantial. If you look at the Otterstedt website they are so proud of their history.I doubt the company founders would be proud reading this review.
